The ALECTIA-Foundation
The object of the ALECTIA-Foundation is described in the deed of foundation: "to benefit the further education and development of Danish engineers as well as to strengthen the reputation of Danish engineering activities in Denmark and abroad". At the same time the foundation works to strengthen the visibility of its subsidiary ALECTIA A/S and support the reputation and revenue of the subsidiary through various initiatives and grants.
Through the years the ALECTIA-Foundation has supported a number of different projects at schools, high schools and higher education institutions to strengthen young people's interest in natural science and technology. The Foundation has also supported the Experimentarium and the organisation Danish Science Communication, just as grants have been given to various engineering associations and to the publishing of technical books. Finally the Foundation has supported the establishment of an alumni network at the Technical University of Denmark. In recent years the foundation has primarily supported initiatives that contribute to increase the interest for science and engineering.
PhD programme
For the last couple of years, the ALECTIA-Foundation has had special focus on the research element of the deed of foundation. This has resulted in the creation of a PhD programme, where a number of industrial researchers are employed in ALECTIA A/S. The objective of the PhD programme is to heighten the knowledge level in ALECIA A/S in the competence areas that form the basis of the company's existence. Up to now 8 PhD degrees have been finished and 3 employees are at the moment working on their PhD projects. The ALECTIA-Foundation considers the PhD programme to be vital for the continued development of ALECTIA as a knowledge-based company.
The ALECTIA-Prize
Yet another element of the Foundation’s strategy is to propagate the general knowledge of ALECTIA. The means are the award of the ALECTIA-Prize, which has now been given 6 times. The prize has up to now been awarded to three individual researches, a relief organization, and two research groups. A common factor of all prize winners is that they are all working with subjects within the interest areas of ALECTIA A/S.
