The winning team has been found in the competition for modernization of Christiansfeld School. The team includes the consultancy company ALECTIA, the main contractor Hoffmann A/S, the architecture firm Kjær og Richter A/S and the landscape architects GBL Gruppen A/S.
A jury has unanimously declared the winning project in the competition for rebuilding and extending Christiansfeld School. The project is prepared by the consultancy company ALECTIA, the main contractor Hoffmann A/S, the architecture firm Kjær og Richter A/S and the landscape architects GBL Gruppen A/S and was chosen from among five submitted proposals.
The winning project was highly praised in the report of the jury: “A remarkably perfect school project and no less than an architectural and pedagogical gift to Christiansfeld. The winning project is a total experience, and every room has been prepared thoroughly with an appreciation of new learning methods and communication on several levels. The project is markedly different by designing the inner space as a universe or a city with roads, paths, rooms and open spaces”.
Everything in one place
The purpose of the project is to gather the entire school in one place. Therefore the present inschooling classes, the before and after school care and the public library will be gathered on Gl. Kongevej where both the intermediate school and the secondary school are already housed. At the same time the local public library will be integrated with the school library.
After the modernization, the school will house a pedagogical learning centre and a design centre, and in overall terms, the school will appear as a small town with a central building and open learning environments.
The project will be carried out in 4 stages and is expected to run from October 2011 to the beginning of 2013.
