Consulting engineer on Novo Nordisk’s new corporate centre

Together with Henning Larsen Architects and SGA the consultancy company ALECTIA is going to build a new corporate centre for Novo Nordisk inspired by the insulin molecule. The new energy-efficient corporate centre with a total floorage of 50,500 m2 will serve Novo Nordisk’s top management and 1,100 administrative employees in Bagsværd, Denmark.
Novo Nordisk is investing around 1 billion Danish kroner in two new office buildings with surrounding green spaces in Bagsværd. The project is expected to create more than 300 jobs during the construction phase. The new office premises will house Novo Nordisk’s top management, 1,100 administrative employees and a number of shared facilities. The first turf will be cut in October 2011 and the new domicile is expected to be ready for occupancy at the end of 2013.

Contoured spiral-shaped insulin molecule
The insulin molecule with its contoured spiral shape has been a key source of inspiration in the building. The new building will be distinctive in its white materials combined with Nordic stones and woods.
The aim is to create a dynamic and inspiring work setting closely allied with external nature features, in an elegant, streamlined and efficient centre for Novo Nordisk.
- The new corporate centre will consist of two office buildings – a circular six-storey building and a lower four-storey building, underground parking and a large planted landscape.
- Situated on a 37,000 m2 site, the new buildings will take up an area of 8,800 m2 with a total floorage of 50,500 m2.
- The buildings will feature low energy consumption with the aid of sensors, light and ventilation, and will meet the 2015 energy requirements for new buildings.
