Health and safety at Cocio: Ergonomic chocolate milk

What do you do, when you want to increase capacity, expand the supply unit, create a good working environment and establish a master plan for various future scenarios - all at the same time? This was the challenge that the Arla company Cocio Chocolate Milk A/S faced in the summer of 2008.
ALECTIA’s unique combination of qualifications made it possible to advise Cocio on their widely differing wishes. And in a very short time too.
ALECTIA’s architects and engineers worked out a layout of how to separate the dairy’s bottling and canning unit to increase capacity. An assessment of the entire process was made, including a potential future expansion of both the dairy and supply units. Our bottling and process engineers documented the existing plant and prepared the tender material for the separation project.
Our consultants were in charge of contracts and construction management of the building, bottling, utilities and dairy process. The work involved a wide range of suppliers and contractors. ALECTIA’s business consultants worked out an overall master plan providing a decision basis for future decisions. And finally our occupational health and safety consultants ensured that the working environment was integrated in the future development and operation of the plant. The screening focused on noise, ergonomics, accident risks and chemical products.
At the beginning of 2009, five months after the project was started, we participated in the topping-out ceremony for the new dairy.
