Health and safety at DSB: Loving monday morning

“A good working environment makes the employees happy.” This is how DSB’s (Danish State Railways) staff policy is introduced. The purpose of the policy is to focus on the many different effects of the working environment that the 9,000 employees are exposed to in their daily work.
To live up to the policies, DSB has – with ALECTIA as its main adviser – targeted their efforts towards the improvement of the psychological working environment, primarily with regard to visibility and openness around the psychological working environment. ALECTIA’s psychologists have carried out a number of activities under the headlines: ”Stress – back and forth”, ”Absence-presence” and ”Violence and the prevention of violence”.
The purpose has been to promote the well-being of the individual, to examine the connection between demands and resources, to develop skills, and to prevent violence, threats and theft.
As primary adviser, ALECTIA has participated in the process at both strategic and tactical levels. We have also functioned as advisers at the operational level, including DSB’s process towards occupational health and safety certification.
DSB has previously won the occupational health and safety award for their efforts to improve the psychological working environment.
