Increased production capacity at Statens Serum Institut

The renovation of a production plant in the pharmaceutical industry is a demanding task. It is imperative that the shutdown period is short and the process well-structured. This is precisely the challenge that Statens Serum Institut (SSI) faced when they decided to expand their production capacity and reduce the energy consumption of their bottling plant.

In collaboration with SSI’s technical department, ALECTIA was in charge of the entire planning and completed the task in a well-planned, well-structured and at times hectic process. A team of professional engineers, building supervisors and qualification employees advised SSI in connection with the introduction of a new bottling machine and were responsible for the upgrading of the existing facility.

The project was carried out within the planned shutdown time of 8 weeks. The result was a high quality production plant that complies with the ever more rigorous regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical production. In the future, SSI will avoid bottlenecks and be able to supply an increased amount of vaccines to the world market.
